Your pathway to world
Introduction
to the Curriculum System
Hello! The summer vacation is coming to an end. How have our dear and lovely BIS boys & girls spent their exciting holiday? We miss you so much! We look forward to sharing your holiday experiences when you return to school!
In this issue, we want to share the super curriculum system of the new academic year at Britannia International School of Guangzhou. At BIS, we provide a comprehensive and student-centered curriculum for every student, aiming to cultivate and develop their unique potential.
Our curriculum covers everything from early childhood education to high school, ensuring every student enjoys a seamless and enriching educational journey. Through our curriculum system, students not only gain academic knowledge but also develop lifelong skills and qualities.
EYFS:IEYC Curriculum
For children aged 2-4, we offer the cutting-edge International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC).
The IEYC aims to support children's holistic development through engaging and age-appropriate activities.
This child-centered curriculum ensures that every child learns and grows in a safe, warm, and supportive environment. The IEYC not only fosters children's academic knowledge but also emphasizes their emotional, social, and creative development, allowing them to learn joyfully through exploration and interaction.
IEYC Process To Facilitate Learning
In the IEYC classroom, teachers help young children grow through three key actions: capturing, interpreting, and responding. Every day, they gather information about children's learning preferences, relationships, and reactions through planned and spontaneous interactions and observations. Teachers then use this information to adapt the classroom environment and teaching practices, ensuring that children learn and develop in an interactive and supportive setting.
Reflective Practices
for Improving Learning
The IEYC curriculum is uniquely designed to provide comprehensive growth support for young children across six key dimensions:
Understanding the World
By exploring natural and social environments, we cultivate children's curiosity and spirit of exploration. We encourage children to understand the world around them through hands-on experiences and interactions, stimulating their desire for knowledge.
Communication and Literacy
During this critical period of language development, we provide a fully English-speaking environment to help children acquire basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Through storytelling, singing, and games, children naturally learn and use the language.
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
We emphasize children's emotional well-being and social skills, helping them build confidence and self-awareness while learning to cooperate and share with others.
Creative expression
Through activities in art, music, and drama, we inspire children's creativity and imagination, encouraging them to express themselves freely.
Mathematics
We guide children in understanding numbers, shapes, and simple mathematical concepts, fostering their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Development
Through a variety of physical activities, we promote children's physical health and motor skills, helping them establish positive lifestyle habits.
Our IEYC curriculum focuses not only on children's knowledge development but also on their holistic growth, ensuring they thrive in a safe, warm, and supportive environment.
