Guangdong Shunde Desheng School(广东顺德德胜学校), formerly known as Shunde Yizhong Desheng School, has an illustrious history of achievements and has consistently ranked as the top school in Shunde based on its sterling academic results and students’ performance.
In 2011 the school, under the visionary leadership of its Chairman Mr. Chen Ji Ye, started the International Education Division to prepare students for an overseas education. The division is now known as Desheng School (International), in short DSI.
DSI has been accredited by the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) in 2014 as a Cambridge International School to offer the Cambridge International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Cambridge International AS and A Level curriculum. In 2015, the school was accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organisation to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
The school celebrated its fifteenth anniversary on 17 December 2016 with pomp and pageantry for its many outstanding accomplishments. With just a brief history of 15 years, it has already made its mark in terms of academic standing in the Shunde district. Emerging as a top school in the district based on its sterling results achieved consistently in the annual Junior Middle School examinations, the school continues to surge forward in providing the best educational experience for all its students.
DSI’s first batch of IGCSE students took the examinations in May 2015. The students finished the exams with sterling results. In addition to distinctions awarded to the candidates, the school had two students who achieved the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards for being Top in the World for First Language Chinese and Mandarin Chinese.
Continuing this great success, DSI students performed better for IGCSE in May 2016 and 2017 with 4 students achieving Top in China Awards for International Mathematics, Bahasa Indonesia, and Foreign Language Indonesian.
In 2017, the inaugural batch of high school graduates has done very well in their IBDP examinations, achieving an average score of 35 points (above the world average of 29.95 points) and the majority of them (80%) being admitted to Top 100 (QS Rankings) universities in the world. The school went on to improve the average score of IBDP exam to 36 points in 2018.
To prepare its students even better for the future, the school initiated a number of programmes to promote a holistic education. Among which are Model United Nation conference, Future Problem Solving Programmes, as well as overseas immersion programmes in countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and UK. With strong emphasis on both academic and student-centric activities, the school is well prepared to nurture its students to become Leaders, Scholars and Global Citizens.
